Honey Citrus

Scopex, but not as you know it.

Honey Citrus reads as a scopex bait and then does considerably more. Scopex N1 is combined with dried honey, citrus concentrate, tuna and a herb mix at a low dose, but the real work comes from a base of betaine and butyric acid. That pairing came out of aquarium research into feeding response, and it turns a sweet, creamy, citrus-fresh bait into one that keeps carp actively eating. It has been in the range since 2013 and performs from spring through summer and deep into autumn. Winter is the one season where other baits do more.

How it came about

A session on an unfamiliar water was going nowhere. The founder of Solution Boilies still rolled much of his bait on the bank in those days, and the boilies he was fishing brought back almost nothing. Later in that same session he rolled a fresh batch with dried honey, citrus concentrate, betaine and butyric acid. The response came almost as soon as those went in. That turned out not to be one lucky afternoon: since 2013 the profile has far more often than not done exactly the same thing. Competitions have been won on it and it has produced on waters as demanding as Lago di Salasco, but what keeps it in the range is how often it opens up a water that has gone quiet.
